North Carolina and South Carolina

I strive to create room for people to be exactly who and how they are, to dismantle shame and stigma, and to safely muck around in the messiness, vulnerability and exquisite beauty and difficulty of being human.

Chelsea Sokolow, LCSW, offers LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergence affirming online therapy in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Together we will work at the intersection of personal healing and collective liberation - where your personal struggle, the identities you hold, and broader systems meet.

I don’t believe in pathologizing your difference or rushing your process.

Instead, our work will center:

Curiosity over judgment
Liberation over perfection
Integration and resiliency over “fixing”

In my work with therapy seekers I don’t just offer coping skills.

I offer concrete support in meaning-making and capacity-building for people who have had to survive in a world that misreads, pathologizes, or ignores them.

This isn’t surface-level “fix it” therapy. In our time together I will help you build your capacity for joy, ease, love, belonging, and meaningful resistance to harmful systems.

I will support you in figuring out how to be the most badass version of yourself, and how to get braver and feel safer in your own life.

Therapy Services

All sessions are virtual and the online video platform I use is secure and confidential. Offering virtual therapy means I can offer therapy anywhere in North Carolina or South Carolina while you are in the comfort of your own space!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Initial Intake Assessment

In our first appointment we will review your initial paperwork, go over what to expect in the therapeutic process, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. We will then use the rest of the time to get to know you, deepen our understanding of what brings you to therapy and what your needs and wants are, and work together to identify your goals for therapy.

Individual Psychotherapy

Therapy can look a lot of different ways. My priority is collaborating with you to discover what works best for you. All growth is incremental, and in therapy we will honor whatever pace and path your own growth process takes! Therapy is a collaborative process, so over time I will continuously check in with you about how things are going, what’s working and what’s not, and what you might be needing moving forward.

In therapy together we will create a space that is for you and just for you, a therapeutic container that holds you with care, allows you to be both strong and soft, and asks you to be brave. I know how challenging it can be to navigate the systems we live in, and how hard it can be to carve out space for the most tender and closely held parts of ourselves.

Let’s make space for you!

You don’t have to keep trying to “push through.”
Let’s build something more honest, spacious, and sustainable — together.
